About Steve

Welcome to My World: The Pit Bull Place

My name is Steve and I am the creator of The Pit Bull Place. I have always been a dog lover and have lived with adopted dogs my entire adult life. With the passing of my beloved Gordon Setter mix, some years ago, my family set out again on another adoption journey. We weren’t looking for a specific bred, just another amiable companion. Upon visiting a few local shelters, I was taken by the overwhelming percentage of pit bulls available for adoption. And I must admit that I was guilty of the same misconceptions that are so prevalent about this breed. Having spoken to a number of shelter personnel, my vet, and a trusted neighbor who has an adopted pit bull, we took the plunge and adopted our first pittie. And am I glad we did! Lucy is one of the most intelligent, affectionate, low maintenance and easy going dogs I have ever had. So I created this website to share information about pitties to try to alleviate the popular misconceptions and to encourage others to adopt this misunderstood breed and empty the shelters.

The Truth About Pit Bulls: Myths vs. Reality

My goals for this website are simple:

  • Unveiling the real pit bull: Beyond the headlines and stereotypes
  • Tackling common misconceptions with facts and personal experiences
  • Creating a platform for meaningful conversations about pit bull rescue and adoption
  • Showcasing success stories of pit bulls and their impact on people’s lives

Our Story is Typical

Over the last few years I have had the chance to meet numerous pit bull owners who have had the same experience we have. I have yet to come across anyone who, once having taken the plunge and adopted a pit bull, has anything but love and praise for them. They are typically great with other dogs and warmly greet your friends and relatives when they come to visit. They also make a heck of an alarm clock.

Having visiting a number of area shelters and seeing that the majority of adoptable dogs (and usually those that have been there the longest) were pit bulls, I became passionate about advocating for adopting these wonderful dogs.

My goal is for this site to be a wealth of honest and useful information that will help you navigate your own adoption decision. There will be frequent updates, so please come back from time to time, feel free to ask questions and add comments about your own pittie experiences.

Cheers!

Steve
